As a caterer and event planner, Michelle’s creativity and passion for food has garnered her media and award recognition including the “HERstory in Black” photo project produced by CBC News where she was honoured as one of 150 Black Women making an impact in Canada. Michelle’s desire to use food as a catalyst for change led to the creation of Shelley Cares Foundation in 2018. As Executive Director, she works with staff and a team of volunteers to alleviate hunger by providing safe, nutritious, and culturally appropriate food and meals to marginalized and under-served residents living in Scarborough and surrounding areas.
